Phytochemical profiling of iridoids by high-performance thin-layer chromatography

Summary

Iridoids represent a structurally diverse group of plant secondary metabolites with relevance in phytochemical and chemotaxonomic studies. In this work, high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) was employed for the profiling of iridoids in plant extracts. Chromatographic separation was achieved under optimized conditions, and compound visualization was performed using appropriate post-chromatographic derivatization. The developed HPTLC method enabled clear separation and reproducible fingerprinting of iridoid constituents, allowing rapid qualitative comparison of samples. The results confirm the suitability of HPTLC as an efficient analytical tool for iridoid profiling and routine phytochemical analysis.
